Project Overview

Navigating the fertility treatment involves several complex and lengthy time sensitive processes. Keeping track of appointments, medication, and information regarding procedures is challenging. To address this, a web-based app was developed to centralize and manage medical appointments with providing comprehensive information about each step of the process.

The Problem

Users undergoing or are considering fertility treatment are looking for a platform that allows them to easily track their medication and medical appointments. They would also like to stay informed about their current stages of treatment and understand the potential future steps.

My Role

As the UX Designer for this project, I developed a web-based treatment tracker application to enable users to monitor their treatment program. I analyzed user and clinician interviews to create detailed user flows. Based on these insights, I designed high-fidelity prototypes and updated the user interface to adhere to current trends and industry standards.

The Process

Given my limited experience in the fertility industry, I took the initiative to familiarize myself with the various treatments and procedures. The platform already had an existing treatment tracker, where I was able to focus on enhancing and streamlining the user journey.

I optimized workflows by simplifying the process and reducing the number of steps required to use the app. Additionally, I suggested and implemented new features to improve navigation and usability.

The Solution

I designed a treatment tracker that enables users to monitor their appointments and the associated medications. The application includes a feature that provides easy to follow information for the current treatment process and the potential future steps as the user processes. 

Additionally, I have integrated a more empathic approach by adding in gentle check-ins to assess a user’s well-being. This feature has the potential to evolve into a community feature with the platform, fostering supper and connection.

Final Thoughts

The biggest challenge to this project was ensuring that every aspect of the user flow is meticulously crafted to provide the highest level of user care. This included reconsidering language used and reassessing the color palette to create a nurturing atmosphere for the user, something completely different from the corporate stance that I am used to.

This project serves as a gentle reminder that we are all human. Empathy and kindness goes a long way.
